Week 2 - Reflection (Video & Audio Editing)

Welcome Back!

It's all about video & audio editing this week. I felt as if I'm wadding back into familiar waters or so I thought. In fact, we told to prepare a short movie clip or video presentation to be used in our micro-teaching sessions in the not-too-distant-future. The whole class is divided into 4 groups of 5 members each of which we're required to select specific topics for presentation. It is reminded that the intended topics should be guided by the syllabus.

On the day of presentation, we've got to see how the others present their teaching contents. It's pretty interesting as we could actually see that different people have different teaching styles. Proceeding to the presentation output, Group 1 did quite a good job in their poetry recital presentation. Personally, I think the slides were colourful and eye-riveting to have caught the attention of a bunch of 20 years olds. The slides transition were done pretty smoothly too as "students" could participate actively in the exercises prepared in the presentation. A job well done I must say!

Moving on to the 2nd group which consisted of Abang Joharizal, Allen Ting, Jennie Tie, Rachel Chin and not to forget too, ME! I must say that we're a bunch of "norm-defying" people as our presentation content differs greatly from the others. We're focusing on natural disasters, more specifically flash floods whereas the other groups focused mainly on the elements of English Language.  All in all, I think that our presentation was satisfactory except for the clarity of our voice recordings. It was quite grating to the ears. Overall, we're happy with the result.

Both the 3rd and 4th group presented on the same topic, "Adjectives". Yet, there's still differences between the two. In fact, I would prefer the former for lower secondary classes as the contents prepared were simpler for children of 13-15 years of age to comprehend. Group 4's presentation were moving on a much complicated scale of which I think would be perfect for Form 4 and 5 students.

All in all, I think everyone of us did a good job for someone who has no or little knowledge in ICT skills. Hurray for everyone! Yet, there're loopholes here and there to be corrected. Nothing's perfect the first time. Problems such as slides transition, physical features of the slides (E.g. fonts & colours) and the clarity of voice recordings should be further amended. Despite all, Mr. Norsarihan was quite satisfied with the overall presentations. The outcome was pretty good, considering most of us were first timers.

I hope there's more to such activities as it really sparks off my interest in ICT again. This task has clearly shown me the need of integrating ICT in education nowadays as most students would be well-versed in terms of technology and computer. It would not be easy to teach these students as they too would have certain expectations on their teachers in ICT wise. Therefore, all of us should grab hold of the opportunity to learn and not give up easily without trying. Fighting!

La Fin~
